TwitchCon Paris: Exciting Announcements
TwitchCon 2023 in Paris, the third European conference and the first one in Paris, kickstarts today! It brings together international streamers and their robust online communities. There are live performances, interactive workshops, meet-and-greet sessions with streamers, Twitch Rivals competitions, and previews of new products launched this year. Let’s dive into the major announcements made during the opening ceremony today.
Clips play a pivotal role in ushering in new viewers to your unique universe and fostering a sense of community. Recognizing this, Twitch has put significant investments into tools this year to streamline the creation and publication of top-notch clips. A testament to this is the Clip Editor, which now facilitates native editing of Twitch Clips in a user-friendly vertical format. But it doesn’t stop there; the platform also allows direct exporting of these clips to YouTube. As we inch towards the end of August, Twitch users will also have the opportunity to export directly to TikTok, a key player in the social media arena.
Introducing the Discovery Feed
In the world of live streaming, discoverability plays a pivotal role. To address this, the recently revealed Discovery Feed in the Twitch App sets the stage for users to encounter a custom blend of clips. Consequently, this opens doors for viewers to unearth a myriad of other channels, irrespective of the streamers’ live status. After meticulous testing and optimization of this feature, the grand launch of the Discovery Feed is set to unfurl come fall.
As of August, creators can highlight clips in their dashboard. This allows better control over which clips get displayed in the Discovery Feed.
Strengthening Community Connection with Stories
Twitch now offers the option to create stories, reaching your entire community whenever needed, even off-stream. This feature will be available from October, with more coming next year.
Collaboration between streamers often yields growth. The “Streaming together” feature now comes as part of Guest Star. This update allows up to five streamers to collaborate and simultaneously stream on their channels.
Stay Safe with Shared Mod Comments
Moderators, or Mods, play a crucial role in keeping Twitch channels safe. With the shared Mod comments feature, you can inform other streamers why certain individuals were blocked on your channel. This feature becomes available from September.
Last month, Twitch introduced Alerts to offer more exciting rewards for viewer support. Several updates to Alerts were announced today, to be implemented in the coming weeks.
More Stream Events
As the year kicked off, Twitch made waves by unveiling Stream Events and the much-loved Streamer-versaries feature. Now, it’s evolving yet again, with updates that allow celebrating not only a streamer’s stream anniversary but also their actual birthday.
Simultaneously, Twitch shifted its lens to advertising, aiming to render it both more lucrative and less intrusive. As a solution, they launched the Chat Countdown Timer. This new feature equips streamers with precise data about impending ad breaks, thus empowering them to strategize effectively for their community’s benefit. This handy tool is scheduled to join the suite of the Ad Manager features later this month.
