Interviews
One-on-One with Christoph Marti: Art, Aesthetics, and the Revival of the Circle of Marti

Q: Christoph, you started your career as a chef before transitioning to photography. How did that experience shape your artistic approach?
Christoph Marti: Working as a chef was my first real lesson in precision, aesthetics, and composition. In fine dining, every detail matters – from the plating of a dish to the overall harmony of a menu. That trained my eye for form, light, and structure, which now plays a major role in my photography. I see an image the same way I used to see a dish: it needs to be balanced, it needs to evoke emotions.
Q: When did you realize photography was more than just a hobby for you?
Christoph Marti: It wasn’t a single moment, but a process. I started photographing people early on, but over time, I realized I could create something unique. The combination of technical precision and creative freedom drew me in. At some point, it became clear that this wasn’t just a passion – it was my profession.
Q: Your work has been exhibited internationally, from London and Paris to Dubai. Is there a signature style or theme that defines your photography?
Christoph Marti: I think my style is a mix of clarity, trust, and elegance. The female form plays a central role in my work, and I consciously walk the fine line between art and aesthetics, avoiding anything that feels too provocative or explicit. My black-and-white photography helps strip away distractions, revealing the essence of a person. That’s what excites me the most – capturing character in a single frame.

“What’s about the circle of marti?”
Q: Your latest project, the Circle of Marti, is gaining more attention. What’s the idea behind it?
Christoph Marti: The Circle of Marti isn’t something completely new – in the past, we’ve had meetups once or twice a year, bringing together photographers, artists, and creatives. Now, I want to bring that back in a stronger way. We live in a world where everything is digital, but I believe real connections and face-to-face conversations are more important than ever. The Circle of Marti is about creating those spaces again.
Q: What can members of the Circle of Marti expect?
Christoph Marti: Beyond the meetups, members get exclusive benefits – early access to certain projects, behind-the-scenes insights into my photography, and for some, opportunities to be part of special shoots or events. The goal is to build a community that inspires each other without the pressure of social media algorithms dictating the conversation.
Q: Do you already have a specific event planned?
Christoph Marti: Yes, the next meetup is already in the works. It won’t be a traditional exhibition but more of an event where people can truly connect and share ideas. I want it to be a mix of networking, art, and casual discussions. More details will be announced soon, but I’m excited to bring people together again.
Q: Last question – what’s next for you?
Christoph Marti: Apart from expanding the Circle of Marti, I have several upcoming photography projects. My focus remains on high-quality photography and art, but at the same time, I want to create more opportunities for people to meet and engage. Personal exchange is important to me – whether through my work or the events we organize.
