Nourishing body and mind: Healthy diet and food
Dear Readers,
Since summer is around the corner and everyone is trying to get their summer body, I want to talk about an important topic, when it comes to getting in shape. Not only exercising is an important part of that process but also nutrition and healthy food. I want to empower you with knowledge and inspire you to make positive changes. Changes that can have a profound impact on your health.
The relationship between food and our bodies is a fundamental and complex one. Food serves as fuel for our bodies, providing the energy and nutrients necessary for growth, development, and overall well-being. It plays a crucial role in maintaining our physical health and can have a significant impact on various aspects of our bodies. Impacts including our weight, metabolism, organ function, and overall vitality.
By making some changes in your diet, you can see and feel your body changing enormously. But you need to be disciplined and dedicated to it. Otherwise you will go back to your old habits of eating and stop exercising after a few weeks. My journey started a year ago. I felt tired all the time, had food cravings, my skin was breaking out and I just wasn’t happy with my body. I started making changes in my diet by planning what I was going to eat throughout the week and sticking to it. It doesn’t mean that it has to be time-consuming. Trying out new, easy and fun recipes that you can find online might even be faster than grabbing some fast food at a takeaway. Once you start seeing changes, your motivation and discipline will increase.
It is not only about losing weight.
A balanced diet with healthy food that includes a variety of nutrient-dense foods is essential for providing the necessary nutrients and preventing deficiencies. Conversely, a diet lacking in key nutrients can lead to malnutrition and various health problems. Eating habits also have a profound impact on our mental health and emotional well-being. Certain nutrients, such as omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, magnesium, zinc, and antioxidants have been linked to improved mood, reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety, and enhanced cognitive function.
It is also important to know your food intolerances. You might have difficulty digesting or processing certain types of food. These intolerances can lead to a range of uncomfortable symptoms and by finding out about what your body cannot tolerate, it can help you to adjust your diet. A lot of times I felt bloated, had rashes on some parts of my body and my skin was breaking out. After I found out that it was caused by certain foods, I changed my diet and all of it went away.
Our bodies are our most valuable assets, deserving care and attention. By embracing a lifestyle that embraces healthy food, we can optimize our physical and mental well-being. We cultivate sustainable habits and unlock our full potential. I hope my letter could motivate you to finally make those changes you always wanted to.
