Her style is a mix of Streetstyle and Avantgarde, inspired by architecture and paintings. Join us as we explore her journey, gain insights into her inspirations, and delve into the world of design and style with Antonia Reinecke.
How does architecture and paintings inspire your creative process and how are they reflected in your work?
Architecture and paintings play a big role in my designs. Almost all my designs are inspired by that. For example my first design collection was inspired by the vessel, a building in NYC. My recent collection is inspired by a digital painting. I enjoy going to exhibitions to get influenced.
“The style is minimalistic and extravagant but still very expressive.”
How do you strike a balance between the contrasting aesthetics minimalistic and extravagant?
I usually focus on one pattern or one color. Then I use this one pattern and make the silhouette and the cut look extravagant. This way I am creating a good mixture of extravagance and minimalism. If you have seen my recent design, you can tell that it is very unique with its pattern but still minimalistic.
What are your aspirations and goals for your future as a fashion designer and stylist?
I strive to leave a positive footprint behind in this world. I want people to remember me and say „This person was an inspirational blast“. Combining your passion and your job is the most grateful thing you can archive in life. It will make and keep you happy. Of course I am thinking about growing and a big career which can be very stressful. But I am confident that you can have a big career and still be happy. It is all about your values and mindset. Making the world more sustainable is another big goal for the future. My aspiration is to convince people that sustainability can give you so much more.
“The vision is to inspire people, who are also associated with fashion and can identify themselves with my designs.”
How do you incorporate sustainable practices into your work?
Right now I am working a lot with second-hand clothes. For me, it is important to set an example. Sustainability is an inevitable topic nowadays. There are so many pieces of clothes in the world. So why do we feel like producing more new clothes every day, rather than taking existing clothes and making something new out of them?
What sets your designs apart from other fashion brands in the market?
My designs result from my daily thoughts, impressions, and things I am dreaming about. Things From everything I perceive in my daily life. No one can copy my thoughts. Because of these circumstances, every design is unique.
How have your early experiences with sewing and creating influenced your journey as a designer?
I started at a really young age of eight. When I was younger designing and sewing has been my pursuit. It has always been inside me. When I grew up I realized, that this has always been what I wanted to do. So I took encouragement and made it a reality.
What advice would you give to someone who’s interested in pursuing a career in design or styling?
I would recommend doing a lot of internships before. A university degree in fashion design has also helped me learn everything I need in the industry. Also, this way it is easier to set a foot into the business. Don’t let others change you. People will try to push against your opinion but stay confident enough to follow your way.
What value does social media have for you in connection with your work in the field of design and styling?
It has a big value for me. We live in a modern world and Social Media is indispensable. I love how easily you can be connected to the whole world. Also making connections with people in the same business appears very simple. I like to keep most of my private life away from social media but I love to share my work and inspire people. It‘s amazing how much love and support you can get back from other users. I also like to get inspired by others.
