A tribute to the Berlin Club Culture.

The Dutch denim brand, G-Star RAW, is kicking off Berlin Art Week with a special partnership: a collaboration with photographer and icon of Berlin nightlife, Sven Marquardt. The joint exhibition “11+1” unveils 12 portraits of the distinctive Berlin club culture, directed and creatively overseen by Sven Marquardt. G-Star RAW leveraged its denim expertise to dress the talents in individual custom-made denim club couture, crafting a visual ode to the city’s exciting nighttime and creative scene.

The portrait series “11+1” was visually captured by Sven Marquardt. His unique lens on the city and its zeitgeist, combined with his experience in casting personalities, defines the entire photo spread. His selection of 12 talents with their diverse personalities and fashion styles vividly illustrates the freedom and vibe of the German capital’s underground nightlife, along with the significant fashion style that goes with it.

G-Star RAW, a pioneer in denim innovation and craftsmanship, was inspired by the individual outfits of each personality and transformed them into unique denim masterpieces. Every piece in the collection, consisting of 26 different styles, embodies the brand’s expertise in denim, as well as the creative prowess of the G-Star team in working with this versatile fabric. From avant-garde leather looks to casual ensembles, every design was tailor-made by the in-house design team.

The photo series is a vibrant tribute to Berlin’s unmistakable spirit. Marquardt handpicked the talents, leading to an authentic portrayal of nocturnal Berlin life. The exhibition named “11+1” is a nod to the guest list culture with 11 talents cast from the streets and Clara Cuvé, a new-generation techno musician. Among the genuine personalities from diverse backgrounds and professions are Alexandra Johansson, Eva Che, Hella Schneider, Lex Olsen, Natisa Kasongo, Samia Fassal, Bastian Faermann, Brya Agherbi, Dominik Heinrich, Samuel Baile, and Vladyslav Tian. The collaboration embodies a shared vision of Sven’s creativity and authenticity, along with the creative boundaries pushed by denim that continuously drives G-Star.

11+1 Exhibition

The exhibition delves deeply into the intersection of fashion, art, and the pulsating energy of Berlin club culture during Berlin Art Week. The G-Star x Sven Marquardt exhibition will be on display from 14th to 17th September at VOO Space Berlin on Oranienburgerstraße.

The collection will be available at the Voo Store Berlin and will be priced between 249 EUR and 699 EUR.
