Self-care – Why is it so important to take care of ourselves?
Self-care is an important part of living a healthy and happy lifestyle. Looking after yourself both mentally and physically is essential for taking control of your health.
Our days often are really full, and taking care of your family, friends, loved ones, is what you often see as a matter of course. But taking care of yourself often gets forgotten. It can be easy to forget that you are someone too, especially if you have multiple responsibilities and other people to care for. But looking after yourself will make you feel better, and the better you feel, the better you will be in all areas of your life.
Self-care doesn’t have to involve a huge time commitment and it doesn’t have to cost a lot. It’s about making a commitment to putting your wellbeing in center, even just for a while.

My name is Saphira Walzer, I’m 20 years old and I’m the host of the Because you matter podcast.
I’m a personal trainer and nutritionist. I love that this job not only helped me learn a lot about physical activity and health but also opened the doors for me to help others. That’s also the main reason for this podcast. I wanted to create a safe place for you and I want to help you accept yourself, feel good in your own skin, learn how to implement healthy habits into your routines and grow.
I have been struggling with an anxiety disorder for the past couple of years and healing from it made me want to learn more about mental health, how it affects us, what we can do to stay healthy mentally and physically and how we can become our best selves – for ourselves.
So this podcast is all about self-love, self-care, about becoming the best version of yourself, growing and healing. Because you matter.
